Neck Lift

Neck Lift

Loose skin and muscle bands in the neck can age you more than facial wrinkles. This area is one of the top concerns from patients because it is one of the first to show the telltale signs of aging.  A necklift can correct these signs of aging and often help you to look years younger. Dr. Rodwell performs neck lifts with techniques that look natural and provide you with smoother and tighter skin. For patients with significant lines and wrinkles or sagging skin on the face, a facelift is usually performed simultaneously with a necklift.  Almost all facelifts performed by Dr. Rodwell include a necklift as part of the operation.  Dr. Rodwell may also recommend the use of injectables/fillers after your necklift to further enhance your result. If the aging of your neck is caused by excess fat and you are a younger patient with good skin elasticity, neck liposuction may be sufficient to provide the result you want. If you have muscle banding or significant excess skin on the neck, however, a necklift is likely necessary. For patients not yet ready for a facelift or neck lift , Dr. Rodwell also offers the EmbraceRF procedure which is a combination of two groundbreaking technologies called FaceTite and Morpheus8.
I am 65 – I don’t want to look 45. I just wanted to be a better, healthier looking version of me, and Dr. Rodwell understands that.

Why consider a Neck Lift?

  A Necklift can:
  • Remove excess skin and fat in the neck
  • Reduce vertical muscle bands
  • Eliminate a “turkey neck”
  • Smooth lines and wrinkles on the neck
  • Tighten the skin of the neck, restoring a youthful appearance

Dr. Rodwell’s Approach to Neck Lifts

Dr. Rodwell highly customizes each necklift for your needs, anatomy, and condition of your skin, taking great care to provide you with a safe procedure. The majority of patients who desire a necklift are typically candidates for a facelift (which actually combines a full necklift with some additional work to improve the jowls and cheek area).  While an isolated necklift is a good option for many patients, Dr. Rodwell’s goal during your consultation is to help you understand whether a necklift or a combined facelift / necklift procedure is the most appropriate choice for you. Incisions are often placed under the chin or behind the ears and hidden within the hair where they are not easily seen. The skin is then tightened, and conservative liposuction is often used to remove some of the excess fat if present. The skin and muscles are then tightened and sutured into their new position.

What to Expect After a Neck Lift

Patients can go home the same day with someone who can take care of their needs for a day or two. Dr. Rodwell will ask you to wear a support band for 1-2 weeks during your time off from work. You will visit him for post-operative examinations, during which he will remove any external stitches. You must avoid strenuous exercise for a few weeks. You can take pain medication to ease the mild soreness, swelling, and bruising that is inevitable after a necklift. While you can see results right away, the inflammation may take several weeks to fully subside, after which you will be able to see the full result of your surgery.
Out of a profound respect for the privacy of our patients we do not publish a gallery of before and after patient photographs on the internet. Representative photographs from actual patients are available for review in the office during your consultation.
