Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a non-surgical skin treatment that can improve a number of skin conditions. Depending on what you wish to treat, Dr. Rodwell will recommend a specific type of peel. These vary in both formula and “depth.” A mild peel allows for a faster recovery period, while recovery from a deep peel takes longer. A deep peel can treat more complex conditions, however, such as the deeper wrinkles and loose skin that occur with aging.

Most people need a series of chemical peels to achieve their goals for their skin’s appearance, and the best results are obtained when peels are combined with a highly effective medical grade skin care regimen.

Why consider a Chemical Peel?

Chemical Peels can improve:

  • Rough skin
  • Blemishes
  • Acne
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sun damage
  • Pre-cancerous growths
  • Fine lines

Dr. Rodwell’s Approach to Chemical Peels

Dr. Rodwell has co-authored many articles and book chapters on the innovative approaches to chemical peeling that he uses to get maximum results with little downtime. He will examine your skin carefully and spend time with you to find out what you wish to improve about your skin. He will then customize your chemical peel treatment based on your skin type, tone, condition, and goals.

Most peels take about 30 minutes to complete, but some can take longer. For deeper peels, sedation or a topical anesthetic may be used for your comfort.

After recovering from a chemical peel, your skin will look fresher and brighter overall and be smoother to the touch.

What to Expect After a Chemical Peel

Your recovery depends a great deal on the depth of your chemical peel. You can go home the same day, but you can expect some symptoms for up to 2 weeks. These include swelling, tenderness, redness, and peeling of the skin.

If necessary, you can take mild pain medication, and we will give you a gentle cleanser and possibly other skin care products to care for your face after your peel.
