Dr. Rodwell was the first facial plastic surgeon in Charleston chosen to offer Kybella.

Trust your face to a specialist.

KybellaKybella is the newest non-surgical option for reducing a double chin.  It involves a series of injections to dissolve the fat over time.  This is a great option for younger patients with good skin elasticity who desire improvement with less downtime.

For some patients, neck liposuction may be a better option.  If you have excess skin or muscle bands in the neck, as well as excess fat, a necklift or a facelift may be required along with neck liposuction to restore a tighter, more youthful appearance.

During your consultation, Dr. Rodwell will examine you carefully to determine if neck liposuction or Kybella injections alone are sufficient to provide the result you want.

Why consider Kybella?

Kybella can:

  • Eliminate a double chin
  • Remove excess fat in the neck
  • Provide a sharper more defined jawline

Dr. Rodwell’s Approach to Kybella

Administering Kybella injections should only be performed by a physician trained in the appropriate techniques and indications for this new procedure.  It is also extremely important for the person injecting Kybella to fully understand the other options that may be more appropriate for you (such as neck liposuction or a necklift procedure).

A series of injections are performed in the central neck below the chin and above the Adam’s apple.  The procedure is easily performed in the office after some topical numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort.

The total amount of injection locations and amount of Kybella used will be determined by you and Dr. Rodwell after discussing your personal goals.  Most patients typically need somewhere in the range of 2 to 4 treatment sessions spaced about 6 weeks apart depending on the amount of fat in the neck and each individual patient’s response to the injections.

What to Expect After Kybella

Some mild swelling, bruising, and soreness is to be expected for a few days after Kybella.  Patients are asked to avoid exercise and other strenuous activity over the next 24 hours, but no additional downtime is needed.

Dr. Rodwell will monitor your progress and will provide you with full instructions as your results continue to improve over a series of treatments.
