Charleston Facial Plastic Surgery offers Sculptra for a Softer, More Youthful Appearance
Sculptra is different than other fillers.
Unlike other injectable fillers, Sculptra restores youthful volume in a way that offers soft, gradual improvements that last longer than most other options.
Injectable fillers are a great way to temporarily combat the signs of aging without surgery. Dr. Rodwell provides dermal filler injections to restore lost volume to the face. Sculptra works differently than other fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. Sculptra is designed to restore volume by stimulating your body to produce more collagen which restores a youthful appearance.

Dr. Rodwell’s Approach to Sculptra
One impressive facet of using Sculptra aesthetic is its ability to improve multiple areas of the face with fillers and do so in a subtle, gradual way that provides a very soft and natural-looking result. This concept on facial rejuvenation meshes seamlessly with Dr. Rodwell’s conservative approach to surgical and non-surgical treatments for patients.
Sculptra aesthetic is comprised of a series of injections, and Dr. Rodwell has found that most patients need an average of 3 treatments spaced over a few months. The initial volume improvement seen at the time of each injection quickly fades, but the Sculptra aesthetic then begins the process of working deep within the layers of the skin to stimulate robust collagen production.

The ability of Sculptra aesthetic to restore the skin’s youthful appearance and glow is also a great option which could potentially enhance the results of patients who are having laser skin resurfacing or other surgical procedures such as a facelift, necklift, brow lift, or eyelid surgery.
What to Expect After Sculptra
No downtime is required after treatment, but you may experience some mild swelling, tenderness, and some bruising which should quickly improve even without treatment. Lidocaine is added to the solution, but an additional topical numbing cream is also applied before your treatment. Dr. Rodwell suggests avoiding any strenuous activity for 24 hours following Sculptra treatment, but you can otherwise resume all of your normal activities right after the procedure.
Beneficial results materialize gradually over the course of your series of treatments for aging skin. The results from Sculptra are long-lasting with most patients seeing great results for 2 years or more after a full course of treatment. Patients would then have the option to continue smaller touch-up procedures in order to maintain the volume improvement over time.
