4 Ways to Improve Your Selfies
Everyone knows that getting the right angle is important, but you don’t have to be a contortionist to get an Instagram-worthy selfie.
Consider these options if what you see on your phone is causing you to press delete more than you want to:
Ditch the double chin
Who decided it was a good idea to have to hold your arm high in the air to take a picture of yourself from a weird angle? The person who saw a double chin in their picture, that’s who!
Fullness and fat in the neck show up all too well in selfies. They are also a big problem for younger patients who otherwise have great skin and have not yet gotten to the stage where the face begins to sag and develop deep wrinkles.
Until very recently, liposuction was the main option available for stubborn fat under the chin that refused to go away despite diet and exercise. Now, Kybella is one of the newest and most effective non-surgical options to permanently reduce double chin fat. It is easily performed as a series of treatments in the office. Lips are definitely in
Pucker up, but don’t go overboard with the duck lip pout!
Someone gets a lip augmentation every 19 minutes in the US, and we certainly see the increase in the trend in our office.
Full and well-defined lips are one of the most sought after results for our younger patients in their 20s and 30s and also a good option for older patients noticing thinning of the lips and more significant loss of fullness. Some people have the facial features to balance out large lips, but others only need a conservative amount of filler to enhance what they already have.
Either way, make sure you trust your face to specialists like Dr. Rodwell and his nurse injector, Bethany, to get the results that will give you what you want and look appropriate.
Get rid of the wrinkles
Soften those harsh wrinkles when you pose for your selfie by using Botox or Dysport.
Everyone has heard of these, and whether they admit it or not several of your friends and coworkers are already benefiting from them. Botox and Dysport are very similar and both work by softening the muscle activity that contracts the skin and causes wrinkles.
We see many younger patients who use Botox or Dysport to help soften wrinkles and, at the same time, prevent deep etched-in lines and wrinkles from forming. Prevention and maintenance are key when it comes to keeping your skin in great shape and avoiding the need for surgery.
It’s all about lighting
Harsh side lighting will draw attention to wrinkles and imperfections in the skin.
When patients come in for consultations we often end up discussing issues related to deep folds, wrinkles, and volume loss. These break up the face into distinct subunits and contribute to an aged appearance. In contrast, a youthful face has a more seamless transition from one area of the face to the next (lack of deep creases between the eyelid and the cheek, for example).
Soft and more diffuse lighting will help to improve your appearance and offers a much more flattering end result.
